Sale of land in Cannock to Barratt Homes

Hawksmoor have sold land on the edge of Cannock, Staffordshire with outline planning permission for the development of 481 new homes to developer Barratt Homes.

The land lies to the west of Pye Green Road on the edge of Cannock, and had been allocated by Cannock Chase District Council as part of a Sustainable Urban Extension to provide up to 900 new homes in tandem with an adjoining site to the south. The site was sold to Barratt Homes, and the deal completed in October this year. Hawksmoor acted on behalf of the landowners and the promoter, St Modwen Developments.

The site is one of the main allocated housing sites in Cannock Chase’s Local Plan, and will supply a significant source of much-needed new housing. The outline planning permission provides for 14% affordable housing, and will also provide for contributions towards community infrastructure such as highways improvements, bus services and the provision of a new Primary School.

Tom Bathurst, Associate Director at Hawksmoor said: “The site is within a popular area of the town, enjoying ease of access to the Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in addition to the town centre to the south. The local community will benefit from the development with contributions towards the improvement of road junctions, together with the delivery of a new Primary School and public open space within the wider site.”
